Hermes scarves and other designer scarves
I love to collect Hermes scarves myself along with Gucci and Ferragamo. If you are looking for an authentic Hermes, look for hand rolled and sewn hems rolled toward the front of the scarves. Hermes are not symetrical in pattern and if you look closely, each corner will be different. Hermes are 35.5 inches or 90 CM square although they might stretch or stretch a little with drycleaning. The white tag will read Made in France 100% silk, soie, Dry clean only.; they will never say Paris France or Italy. The content tags are now black for the past two years. Occasionally cashmere Hermes are made in Italy, Scotland and I have seen mohair from Finland. The scarves usually have the name of the design in French, occasionally English toward the top or below the center of the design. The modern ones always have an Hermes with a copyright sign and an accent over the second e. Most fakes do not put an accent on the second e. There are some very good fakes made in the past two or three years, so accurate that the scarf must be weighed to determine authenticity. I have noticed that many sellers of fakes are showing the scarf folded (usually) in a box with an orange paper tag. Hermes does not make this kind of tag. Please email me with any Hermes scarf questions. IF you are interested in consigning your scarves, I would consider listing them for you. Please contact me about this. |
