Fortunately what I do for a living doesn't stop me from buying and selling on eBay for fun. I indulge myself with two personal projects, both of which require eBay as a critical element in their success: I'm busy digitizing the published works of Ellis Parker Butler (scroll down for more info), an American author and humorist from the same era as Mark Twain, F. Scott Fitzgerald and Will Rogers. I intend to digitally preserve all of Butler's work. I buy, digitize and re-sell his material on a regular basis. With eBay, I locate hard-to-find copies of the magazines and publications that printed his work -- no matter where those copies are around the country and around the world. I have an almost complete collection of Texas Almanacs (scroll down for more info). I've been collecting these since I first arrived in Texas more than twenty years ago. My collection is almost complete, at least for the modern issues (after 1904). eBay helps me find those last few elusive issues. Ellis Parker Butler (b.1869, d.1937) was an American author, humorist and speaker. Author of more than 30 books and more than 2,000 stories, poems and essays, Ellis Parker Butler is most famous for his short story Pigs is Pigs in which a bureaucratic stationmaster insists on levying the livestock rate for a shipment of two pet guinea pigs that soon start proliferating geometrically. Texas Almanacs

"I wasn't born in Texas, but I got here as soon as I noticed." The Texas Almanac has been published almost continuously since it was first released by the Galveston News in 1857. The modern editions started in 1904 and are published every two years by the Dallas Morning News. I've collected every issue since 1904 (but only a handful from before then).
