Vintage Cookbooks are my passion, especially those from the 30s and 40s. Many of the old advertising cookbooks glamorized the art of homemaking through rich narratives and illustrations. I wonder how many housewives of the time actually served fancy meals every night while dressed to the nines - with matching apron and shoes. Some of the standard old cookbooks from the 20s led us to believe that meals could be served "without the help of servants"!!!  The amount of time that these women invested in setting the perfect table and making the perfect pie crust could not have left very much time for anything else. But then again, what else is there???
