Thank You for stopping by so that we can get aquainted. It is our pleasure to introduce ourselves and share a bit of our background with you --- Our NEW SPARTAN FRIEND !!!
OLD SPARTAN TRADER is one part of a group of business endeavors that began some 35 years ago ---
Way back when .... Our lust for collectables was a wee bit bigger than the space we had to display them --- and a whole bunch bigger than the wallet we used to buy them --- SO
A part time business became our solution. We began to sell some of our SPARTAN TREASURES to other collectors. In doing so we gained some wonderful friendships across much of New England that continue to this day.
In the early days OLD SPARTAN'S interest was based in RUBY GLASS .... LOVELY LADY leaned toward elderly BISQUE & PORCELAIN DOLLS. Overtime time both our tastes became far more eclectic as we grew to appreciate not only DEPRESSION GLASS -- but also -- many of the household and everyday items that we grew up with.
Now, as a second generation of SPARTANS begins to join us we are beginning to offer the collectables of their generation -- the bric n brac that the LADY and I used in our everyday lives. SYACOWOOD -- MIKASA -- BOONTON -- to name a few. Barbie Dolls -- Cabbage Patch -- Corning Ware -- Faberware -- and Green or Gold Kitchenwares to mention a few more.
We have also expanded into what we feel will be the collectables of the future .. CAST IRON FIGURINES and PLAQUES as well as reproduction Victorian and French Provincial Decorative Arts.
The SPARTAN'S travel the highways and byways from New York's Majestic Adirondack Mountains to the crashing surf of Maine's Atlantic Ocean in search of the unique and the useful.
Our inventory spans almost the entire world of collectables. As our business has grown from a method of supporting our hunger for Dolls and Ruby Glass into our livelihood it has also diversified from those simple roots.
Our wares span the gamut of collectables. Our buildings hold Fine China Vintage Dinnerware from HOMER LAUGHLIN, NORITAKE, W.S. GEORGE, KNOWLES, JOHNSON BROTHERS & many other venerable makers. We have Depression Glass ranging from Madrid to CABBAGE Rose --- COLUMBIA to APPLE BLOSSOM .... and many others.
Our revolving eBAY inventory will almost always have a CRAM or REPLOGLE Globe .... Corelle and other glassware from the 30's - 40's - and 60's .... and of course OCCUPIED JAPAN, Porcelain Figurines, Vintage Cast Iron Cookware, and Vintage Board Games.
Recently we have began to offer several lines of CAST IRON HOME & GARDEN DECOR as well as a variety of NOVELTY FIGURES. We have also engaged our love of the Animal Kingdom by starting the SPARTAN ZOO. In that area you will fing animals from ELEPHANTS to MOOSE .... ALLIGATORS to SNAKES .... and of course Chickens, Roosters, Cows and many others.
