I'm a simple woman with simple wants and needs. I served my country proudly for twelve years. I got out back in 1988. I went into the Army with all of my parts but got out missing quite a few. I am a mother
of three, and a grandmother of five! As of this writing I will have been married for 29 years! I once told him that the only way out of the marriage was for one of us to die!
Back in 2000, I started homeschooling teenagers who wanted to drop out of school. To date we have helped 9 kids to graduate! One is the asst manager at one of the fabric stores here in town, three have gone
onto college, one is an officer in the Air Force, another has become a professional truck driver, and another has opened his own business. There are a couple that I never heard from again after graduation.
All in all, I am very proud of these kids that although they gave up in a public school, they never gave up with me!
This decade is proving rough. We lost our home a few years ago due to a fire. The wonderful firefighters did all they could to save our home and belongings. We lost many material things but no one was hurt
except for my cat, Xena. Xena was a fiesty kitten. She was only about a year old. When she wanted attention, she would bite my nose! I preferred to sleep at 3 o'clock in the morning - but not Xena. She wanted
her belly scratched. She often sat on my shoulder or curled around my neck while I worked or taught. Her mother did the same thing to my daughter! Maybe that's where she learned it!
I'm A Buyer!
I love buying things on eBay and I'm pretty easy to get along with. I will also admit that I am a sniper! There's nothing like sniping an auction! I often buy crafting supplies for my sister and I as well as
textbooks to replace those that were lost in the fire. I'm still looking for a decent Algebra I book - preferrably a teacher's edition. My sister and I work with beads, plastic canvas, foam, and when the mood hits
just about anything else that we can turn into something. One could almost say that our motto is: If it can be made, we can make it!
Things I Look For As A Buyer:
Good descriptions. Decent shipping and handling charges. I like combined and somewhat discounted shipping - pay the heaviest or first price and then a little extra for each additional item that can be shipped together.
I'd like to hear from my sellers when they ship, but I know that they may be busy.
I do prefer to pay through PayPal with an unconfirmed address. I know that this is a major concern of sellers but I don't have a credit card to confirm my address and since I have been married for so long and
all of the utilities are in my husbands name, I'm not going to pay to have them changed into my name. If a seller states in his/her auction that he/she won't sell to unconfirmed addresses, I usually hit the "back button."
If a seller states in his/her auction that they MAY sell to an unconfirmed address on a case by case basis, I will email to ask.
A short and to the point TOS. A negative TOS turns me off and I use the power of the "back button."
I'm A Poster
I love reading the Community boards. They are extremely helpful. They offer loads of advice on buying, selling, what to do when a buyer doesn't pay, what to do when a seller refuses to sell or doesn't ship. There's loads
of information there and I highly recommend reading them. I would also recommend that if a person sells, then get a posting ID. There are some bad ones there as well.
Feedback
And the main point of me making this page. If you leave feedback for me first, that's fine. I wouldn't recommend it. There are some serious horror stories on the boards as to what can happen when a seller leaves feedback first.
I've seen sellers get some bad raps. But by the same token, I've seen sellers get what they deserve. Personally, if everything is fine, I leave feedback immediately after I've gotten my item and I'm happy with it.
If I have a problem, I always try to contact my seller first. Hopefully between the two of us, we can settle the matter amicably. I really hate leaving negative feedback for anyone, but when the situation warrants it. I do leave it. The only times that I have ever left negative feedback is when I have paid for an item and never gotten the item and the seller will not answer my emails.
There have been a few posts lately on the boards where a seller has come ranting and raving that they got a negative feedback. I understand the anger, but please, please don't say you've been
raped. Yes it happens. I am a SURVIVOR! It is something that I must remind myself of each day.
Negative feedback hurts but a person gets over it. A rape victim has to learn to survive. Please don't compare a negative feedback as being raped or murdering your business. We survivors have enough to deal with.
To Caped: Thanks for giving me just a little extra courage today.
