Preserving the Past and the Present for the Future
It's Time to Share
I was one year old when I moved into our house almost 70 years ago. Yes, I've accumulated a lot of "stuff" and a lot of great memories to go with it. But it's time to unload and I'm hoping I can find my items a good home. Can you help me?
I've had a lifetime love of history. In fact, as a teacher in the 1970s I developed a school program where I took kids over the routes followed by early explorers. We called it "Trek" and won numerous awards for an innovative approach to education. You can follow many of these exploits on my website. In the 1980s I started writing books about these historic trails and when the internet came along I worked with schools worldwide having kids contribute sketches for sketchbooks based on the explorers' lives. These were presented around the world at locations that tied-in with the life of each explorer. It was exciting and It's all on my website www.ourheritage.net.
Some things, though, just were not that successful. At one point I tried starting a specialty tour company Red Coat Tours o give adults the opportunity to follow in the footsteps of our early visitors. It was named after the famous Mounties who brought law and order to the Canadian west. But there just wasn't enough interest. Maybe too many adults have been turned off by the way history was taught in school.
As I unload a lifetime of memories, I hope you find some items of interest
