Cindy at a saddle fitting
|
Cynthia
(Cindy) McCully holds a Bachelor of Science Degrees in
both Zoology and Animals Science. She is a
Certified Veterinary Technologist and has worked as a
biologist for 30 years.
Cindy began
professional saddle fitting in 2000 after an 2.5 year
apprenticeship with two high qualified individuals; a
Senior American Saddle Designer/Saddler as well as an
English Saddler. Cindy takes the approach that riding is
a sport and the saddle is sporting equipment. The
saddle is a critical interface between the horse and
rider – one that should incorporate all the technology
available to other sporting disciplines. Cindy advocates
that saddle fitting is a combination of ergonomic
geometry and physics which must be applied to both the
horse and rider simultaneously. She has a no nonsense,
practical, and scientific approach in dealing with
fitting a saddle to both horse and rider.
Her
experience as a saddle fitter lead her to form Cynron
Saddlery in 2004. As the former owner she invented
the impact resistant flocking system for saddles - CIRP™
which
was incorporated into Cynron™ Saddles. Additionally,
she invented Saddle Adapters™
- The Energy Balancing Pad™
and the Equi-Pillow Pad™.
The interest in these products lead Cindy to develop
CIRP™
for re-flocking in all saddle brands. CIRP™
and Saddle Adapters™
are now marketed by another equestrian firm and are
available for sale at Paint Horse Saddle, however Cindy
closed Cynron Saddlery at the end of 2007 to pursue
other equestrian ventures. She is currently working on
developing standardized measurements for saddles in the
USA market, scientific studies on saddle placement, and
the formation of a non-profit organization for training
and certification of saddle fitters. Look for
www.saddlefitters.org to go on line soon.
Cindy
credentials stand on her extensive amount of education,
experience, training, and apprenticeship as she does not
hold a certification as a Saddle Fitter. At this
time there is not a non-profit, non-retail organization
designed for training and certification in saddler
fitting in the USA. Therefore, Cindy would prefer
to wait for certification in the area of saddle fitting
that would be on the same professional non-biased level
as her certification as a veterinary technologist.
Through
all of her professional equestrian endeavors Cindy
continues be immersed in equestrian sports, as she has
for 38 years, as a rider, horse owner, instructor, NSA
official, and “Show Mom” for her children Patrick
and Caitlin.
