History of Palmetto Equipment:
Our
background stretches waaaay
back into the 70's in Reprographics and
Printing-back when Bluetooth was something that happened to you when
you ate too much smurf ice cream. We were just a typical
Blueprint shop with GAF, Dietzgen, and Bruning blueprint machines.
Blue-tipped fingers and the wretched scent of ammonia that we had
somehow gotten used to somewhere along the way... working all hours to
finish a project. Around this same time, we began selling
cross-section paper, survey chairs and drafting film. (By the way, I
say 'we,' but in all actuality, the early years were basically all
about me, Skip-founder
and owner of Palmetto
Equipment and Supply).
Surveying equipment to be calibrated back then was the K&E
Paragon
Transit, Path levels and levels by Berger, Ziess, K&E, Dietzgen
and
the like, just to name a few. Our roots are in in the
blueprinting business and it isn't hard to see how blueprinting,
architects and engineers fit together. Furthermore, it became
apparent that all blueprint companies serviced architects and engineers
with supplies and equipment and secondary was the surveyors and
construction companies. So Palmetto was started out of the
back
of a black 89 Ford Stepside truck. Things went very well and
Palmetto was born, taking pretty much the exact opposite approach of
the old blueprint shop. From now on, Surveying and Construction would
come first, scanning and printing was now second on the priority list.
These
days, Palmetto
Equipment and Supply
has a main office and storefront on Daniel Island, SC, just off the
coast of Charleston. We consist of 13 employees at present
and we
cover the entire state plus several regions on the outskirts.
On
the construction side, we offer levels, lasers, transits, total
stations, even machine control (automatics for dozers, graders,
scrappers and pavers). Not only that, we carry construction software
for estimating and creating DTMs and profiles for roads, project site
work, etc. On the survey side, we offer survey grade GPS,
representing Sokkia, Magellan, Ashtech, NAVCOM, just to name a
few. We also carry robotic total stations, all bluetooth (no
cables) along with data collectors, data collection software and
desktop software to create drawings. Not to mention, we always have
access to older model guns and accessories, for all of you guys who
like to keep it old-school. Our store is stocked with all of
the
supplies, gadgets and gizmos that are customarily needed in the field.
From wood stakes and hubs to rebar, rebar caps, paint, field books and
mag nails, Palmetto is a full service, one stop shop for
Construction and Surveying for our state and for yours as
well.

happen to also be the EXCLUSIVE
distributor
of Carlson software
for the state of South Carolina!

providing just about any product you could ever imagine needing,
it has always remained our #1 priority to do all of this in as personal

Equipment has a full service Reprographics Division, offering digital
printing, digital plan room, scan to file, projects 6,000 to
30,000 in document conversion. Specifications and document
management are a couple of the services we also provide. You
name
it! Full color digital printing from 36" wide to 20' long, you can
order 10 24X36 color renderings and wait on them. Order prints via
email from across the country and have them shipped to you next day!
Laminating and mounting on foamcore, gatorboard are yet just a few more
of the many finishing products offered.So there you have it:

printing and full color presentation to follow. Our main goal
