Port Edward, also known as "The great nautical experience", began in 1964 as the visionary idea based on the interests and experiences of Edward Wolowiec. It was created through international travel, love of music, artistic talent, cooking, years of diving in the Caribbean, and his fascinating collection of nautical artifacts! One might say Port Edward is his canvas, and always a work in progress.
At Port Edward you will find the freshest fish and seafood the market has to offer. With 44 years of experience and success behind him and his loyal staff they look forward to many great years ahead. From the Friday Night International Seafood Buffet to the award winning Champagne Brunch on Sundays it is always a delectable dining event.
In 1960 Edward was a professional musicican and teacher, when the parents of one of his students asked him to be a partner in a bar called The Anchor Lounge in the little Fox Valley town of Algonquin, Illinois. In his usual fashion Ed hit the ground running, and by 1964 it became Port Edward. The unique layout of the restaurant includes a real windmill that is cozy for couples to dine in. The "porpoise" in our waterfront lobby, which is a full-size sailboat gently floating in its own indoor harbor. You will also find a "secret room" above the "Sea Shanty" to hang out and have cocktails! The ambience is second to none.
From the fine art to the one of a kind gift shop, it is something everyone will enjoy and remember always! If you have ever been to Port Edward you already know how the experience floods your senses. If you haven't- you're in for a treat! From the romantic nooks to the warm and friendly atmosphere, you will require a second visit to absorb it all!
