My name is Chris. I started Tangee's Treasures several years ago as an extension of my hoby of collecting vintage jewelry. Since then, it has grown into a much more diverse store that includes not only vintage jewelry, but also one of a kind and limited edition artisan jewelry, collectables, old fashioned hand made potpourri, and natural organic mosses, lichens, and pine cones for crafters. These items are offered for auction or for immediate puerchase by psychocat1959 and at Tangee's Treasures Vintage Jewelry. When I started selling on eBay, it was with the help of one niece, Marne'. Marne' has since gone off to school, but several younger nephews and nieces have now joined me in this venture. They assist by gathering, processing, creating, and packaging natural materials, photographing items, modeling items, etc. They also help with computer stuff. So far, it has been fun, interesting, and at times challenging. We hope the information on this page gives you a little bit of an idea of who we are.

The real psychocat1959 is a gorgeous silver tabby cat who loves to wear and model jewelry. Whenever I bring home jewelry, Psychocat can't wait for it to come out of the bag. Then she thinks it should all belong to her. Tangee is her faithful calico sidekick who loves to cause trouble. Tangee also loves to steal jewelry, knick-knacks, and anything else she can get her paws on! Psycho and Tangee have recently been joined by two new friends. Cleo is a Siamese blend with seal tip ears, white body with Siamese markings, and a ringed tail. He has brilliant blue eyes and is spoiled rotten by the other cats. He will automatically head for the most expensive item on the table to play with. Reja Rusalka Snipe is a pretty little black and white kitty who came to live with us just last year. She is a dwarf cat, only about the size of a 6 month old even at the ripe old age of 1 1/2 years. She likes playing on the computer, and will watch the screen for hours.

So, why vintage and handmade jewelry?

I started collecting vintage and antique jewelry many years ago while still in high school. A couple of years ago, I decide that it was time to start selling it, as well as collecting it. Since then, I have lots of time learning about and researching antique and vintage jewelry. About a two years ago, I began making jewelry from old beads. This lead to mixing them with new beads and findings. In the last year, I have taken up the art of French Victorian beadwork as well. This is the wonderful 300+ year old art of creating flowers, leaves, bugs, and animals out of small beads and wire. The possibilities are endless. I love creating new and interesting pieces, and seldom do more than 2 or 3 alike. Most of the jewelry I design are one-of-a-kind. Many have a touch of humor to them as well. All of the pieces are truely original pieces of art, perfect for the discriminating collector.

I have a rather varried educational background and have degrees in Fine Art, Commercial Art, Anthropolgy, Education, Counseling, and some other obscure and not so obscure fields. I also teach art classes and have shown and sold art work, specializing in watercolor, pastels, and mixed media, for over 25 years. I still attend film school part time and have written, directed and edited 4 short films. I am currently working on a 6th.

About five years ago,I became interested in drying flowers and the many wonderful ways to use them. Hence, the potpourri and other natural plant related items. My nieces and nephews also participate in this part of the business. They love gathering the materials, learning to proccess them, and coming up with new ways to use them. Our Fir Peppercorn sachets are an item thats formulation was a combined effort between myself and my niece, Louisa.
