HELLO EVERYONE!

I HAVE A LOVE OF BREYER MODEL HORSES (BACK IN THE DAY WE JUST CALLED THEM HORSE STATUES) SINCE 1968 WHEN I WAS 6 YEARS OLD. OUR FAMILY HAS LIVED HERE IN SOUTHERN NH SINCE 1920. WE RAISED SEVERAL PUREBRED ARABIANS HERE AND RAN A RIDING SCHOOL CALLED "PETERSEN'S EQUESTRIAN ACADEMY" FOR ABOUT 23 YEARS. WE BOARDED HORSES, TOOK HORSES IN FOR TRAINING AND COACHED OUR STUDENTS AT SHOWS. OUR TRAINING CAME TO MY SISTER AND I THROUGH OUR MOM WHO HAD A VERY THOROUGH AND FORMAL EDUCATION IN CLASSICAL HORSEMANSHIP THROUGH MICHAEL POULIN AND DR. VANSHIEK. OUR FAMILY SHOWED HORSES ALL OVER NH THROUGH THE 70'S WINNING MANY STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS IN ALL SORTS OF DIFFERENT THINGS, EQUITATION, OPEN JUMPER, ARABIAN PLEASURE, PET PONY AND VARIOUS OTHER DIVISIONS THERE OF. IT WAS A FUN WAY TO GROW UP, I BEGAN TEACHING WHEN I WAS 13 AND HAVE NEVER REALLY STOPPED (THOUGH HAVING 3 KIDS WHO ARE NOW BECOMING ADULTS HAS PUT A DAMPER ON THINGS FOR QUITE SOME TIME). ONCE IN A WHILE I GET THE OPPORTUNITY TO TEACH AGAIN AND JUMP AT THE CHANCE. EVERY BIG SHOW WE WENT TO (WHICH WAS MANY) A NICE TRUCK WOULD ARRIVE, SORT OF LIKE AN ICE CREAM TRUCK. INSIDE WAS NOT SILLY ICE CREAM THOUGH, IT WAS THE BREYER MODEL HORSE TRUCK! I SAVED ALL THE MONEY MOM HAD GIVEN TO ME FOR FOOD AND RIDES AND SUCH JUST TO BUY THAT ONE ADDITIONAL PIECE FOR MY COLLECTION. BY THE TIME I WAS 15 I HAD 120 MODELS. WHAT JOY AND PRIDE I HAD IN THOSE FIRST MODELS, SEVERAL OF MY HORSEY FRIENDS AND I WOULD GATHER OUR COLLECTIONS TOGETHER AND HAVE BIG HORSE SHOWS, WHAT FUN! KEPT ME OUT OF TROUBLE FOR MANY, MANY YEARS. SO, WHEN I SAY MY TOYS & JOYS, THIS IS WHAT I MEAN, NOW AT 46, I ENJOY HAVING THE MODELS IN MY HOME FOR MOSTLY SHORT PERIODS OF TIME, I HAVE ALWAYS ENJOYED PHOTOGRAPHING THEM AND HOPE TO SHARE THIS JOY SOMEDAY WITH SOME TYPE OF PROJECT.
