The Rangers Football Club are a world famous Scottish Football Club which has, over the years, gained a considerable and extremely valuable goodwill and reputation in, amongst other things, the many names and logos associated with the Club.  While The Rangers Football Club plc will have rights as the first user of these names and logos, many are also subject to copyright, design right, trademark protection and the laws of passing off.

We take the protection of our intellectual property very seriously and it is our intention to ensure that our rights and the interests of our supporters, suppliers and licensees are properly protected.  To that end we intend to continue with taking appropriate action against  those we find manufacturing, selling or advertising for sale infringing Rangers items.

Ebay states that it does not and cannot verify that sellers have the right to sell, or offer for sale, listed items and has therefore designed the VeRO program where rights owners are encouraged to report, and have removed, what they believe to be infringing items.  As a result of receiving continuous complaints from supporters who have unwittingly purchased infringing items from ebay which they believed to be genuine, The Rangers Football Club plc have joined the VeRO program.

Together with our major sponsors and partners we regularly monitor ebay to check whether items listed infringe our rights.  If we suspect that any items listed do infringe our rights then we are entitled to take action that can result in having the item removed or pursuing offenders through the Courts.

It is the responsibility of the seller to ensure that items offered for sale are genuine and don’t infringe the rights of The Rangers Football Club.  If any ebay member advertising Rangers items finds that an auction has been terminated, this is more than likely at our request as we believe that the item for sale infringes our intellectual property and/or has been falsely described as a "Rangers" or “Glasgow Rangers” item when it has not been approved by, or has any association with, The Rangers Football Club.
