Gary's Page - The guy behind "rcamic"
My original name was given me by a great lady my late wife Sherri who got me started on ebay -- she loved shopping on eBay. In April 2003 I married Cyndi, who also was an avid eBay shopper! Together we are building a retirement business through our love of bringing quality into the lives of others. Our overall business name is Serenity Sales Inc. and will bring products via the web through eBay and other venues that bring us and others joy and serenity!
Where did that eBay user name come from?
rcamic.com AND this eBay store are both divisions of Serenity Sales Inc. and the original direction of our unique Vintage microphone products and restored microphone manuals where the originals are no longer available for the Audio Visual industry! We believe in going the distance to bring quality products to our customers -- thus no photocopies are allowed. We take the time to restore each graphic, picture and text in the original, then print on high quality paper and bind to last as long as the microphone or longer! Thus the eBay store name.
How did you get interested in Vintage Microphones?
I worked as a TV and VCR design engineer for RCA from 1970-75, and very much enjoyed it. I've always been fascinated with microphones, even as a little kid; so it's only natural for me to collect them and restore the manuals. I've even sung the vocals on two Christmas CDs for producer Bob Rivers of "Twisted Tunes" fame using my RCA 77-DX.
Document Restoration
I first got into this as a hobby, to restore all of the dustjackets for the Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew mystery series. I learned how to color correct, repair tears, missing information, and chips in the dustjackets. This is all done at the half-tone dot level and is VERY tedious, but the results are fabulous. We now can offer many of the original dustjackets to recover your original copies so that they look better than your original. In addition we have expanded our offerings to include collectible magnets, artwork and other unique items.
We have offered a few other children's mystery series products and will continue to expand that line after Gary retires from his day job -- our other business The Analog Guy Inc.
I then extended these techniques to restoring manuals for my collection of RCA broadcast microphones. Jerry Silvia of "Silvia Classics" performed a lot of mic restoration for me, and he has an awesome collection of mics. With his help, I started restoring manuals for mics in my collection. It is my goal to restore microphone manuals for collectors and users so that they can have quality manuals that look new, just as the mics can now look and sound new. I used to work for RCA during and after college, and still feel very loyal to the brand name and the history of the company. I really enjoy doing this restoration. In the last few years I've added restored framed and un-framed jacket artwork from the old Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew children's mystery series books AND Vintage Microphone Advertisements. This artwork has now expanded into other products such as RCA Magnets and a RCA Vintage Microphone collectors series of glass coasters.
I've been doing these high quality document and photo restorations for over ten years!
