SUGAR CAMP COTTAGE
My latest custom sign
What is a Sugar Camp anyway? Really just a place where you tap the trees and make the syrup. But there's more to it, conditions have to be just right, warm days and freezing nights, and long hours boiling watery sap into thick syrup. For this you need change and seasons, sometimes beauty is in the transience of things. Knowing things will come to an end and new will begin. The flower petals will fall, the leaves will turn colors in autumn.

Surrounded by Signs!
Wow, is this a set up shot or what!? I don't ordinarily sit around in my living room smiling and holding my signs! Yet I'm very proud of what I've made and want to show my signs in a room setting. Okay it's a bit much, nobody has that many signs unless it's your favorite restaurant.
I've spent the better part of the last year researching sign painting, finding old books on sign painting, on English Inn signs, Paris shopfronts, New England taverns. Learning how to steady the brush to paint long straight lines (especially with 2 cats that want to sit in my lap) and how to create antique looks occupies my time. I've been a long time quiltmaker, needlepointer, chalkware Santa maker, candlemaker and now signpainter. I've really discovered a passion here. I have 100's more designs to try. I have a wonderful husband who does the more complicated cuts on the signs, 3 stepchildren, 7 grandchildren and 2 cats. A huge garden occupies my summers.
YES, I do custom work! Indoor or outdoor! For me this is a serious business enterprise (I've always been self-employed). I can do wholesale quantities and one of a kind personalized signs. Anything from a rustic cabin sign to a French cafe sign to an early style trade sign. You can contact me at emerson at new.rr.com (just replace the at with the @ sign). Pricing varies according to project but simple signs start at $34.99. The prices in my store are a good reflection of prices, since just about everything in my store is custom and one of a kind. I'm really not trying to churn out great quantities of any one sign, but to keep pushing creative boundaries!
