There are a few things about us and our products that we feel are imperative to share with you:  

• Each of our CDs comes from a personal collection in which it was loved for and handled with care.

• Every CD is authentic and factory made. We never deal with bootlegs or burned copies.

• Every CD has been inspected and checked for quality. Those of which we do not feel are suitable to be sold right away are resurfaced using professional hardware made specially to repair compact discs.

Chris, the brains behind it all, tried his hand at selling CDs quite a few years back, but that was short lived and didn't really become anything aside from your average eBayer sporadically buying and selling whatever he wanted. It wasn't until he met his fiance turned business partner, Helen, that he picked up and left the small town he grew up in on Long Island, NY. Suddenly he found himself in a strange city with no real idea of what he wanted to do in terms of an occupation and as time passed, he grew more in need of some sort of income.

As your typical ‘jack of all trades’ Chris tried several different jobs trying to find his niche. At this point he had spent quite a few months outside of an office environment, and it was then and there that he decided that any kind of office job was no longer an option. He wanted to be his own boss, make his own hours and get involved with something he could have at least some passion about.

In November of 2006, with quite a bit of ambition, an immeasurable amount of drive and more than enough knowledge of how to work his way around eBay, Chris decided he would try his luck with CDs again and see where it took him. He always loved music and what could be more fun that having access to all the music he wanted and sharing it with the world?

With a small investment and months, that turned quickly into years, of hard labor, Chris, or as you may know him, rivercnk, had grown River CDs to its full fledged, CD slinging business that it is today.

About a year and a half into it Chris had an unexpected, yet hugely contributive event happen. Helen found herself without a job and the same undeniable desire to not work for the man! Having graduated with her B.A. in Communication Studies the previous year, Helen had held several jobs including: your typical sales job; what can only be described as soliciting for what we'll call the 'Corporation of Environmentalism'; and her favorite, dog walking/hiking. After finding what she felt was her calling (the dog walking that is), she was, due to a number of factors, pulled away from the job. She too suddenly found herself penny-less and in great need of some kind of income.

Without much hesitation, Chris offered her a partnership. Having helped as much as she could in the past year and a half, Helen was familiar enough to quickly agree to this situation. She thought that this would be brilliant as she too did not want to return to an office environment. So, in May of 2008, Helen joined Chris to help make this self employment thing work! Together they wanted to clear their own path and make River CDs grow to be as successful as possible. It's been over a year now and although they are still working long and stressful hours at times, they still love the freedom of being self employed. They continue in their efforts to bring River CDs success and have hopes of gaining a certain amount of stability before pursuing their other interests. In time, they hope to get involved and contribute to their new community through volunteer work, donations and in whatever inventive ways they can.
