ROCK SOLID ON eBAY
ABOUT MYSELF
I Started Listening to Rock'n'Roll music at an early age of 10 years old. It was the late 60's, the Vietnam War, the Anti-War protests, hippies, bikers, drugs on the evening news by Walter Cronkite. Rock'n'Roll came into my life with AM Mono radio during that time. Amazing how fast it all has since gone by and it has now become an enterprise. I started to buy / collect 45's 1st with the vinyl picture sleeve's & then at an older age, I started to collect LP records. my very 1st 45 record picture sleeve was John Lennon's "Instant Karma" for .99 Cents. The 1st record LP was LED ZEPPELIN II.
As time passed and the vinyl collection grew over the years, few imports or live bootlegs. More stock LP's and stock 45 picture sleeve's, always new and to be kept in mint condition. As I was ocdp over the condition and how to touch a record. My record collection grew and grew, especially when the small record shops that sold collectible import LP's i.e. Pink Floyd's "First XI" box set with the 2 of the rarest PINK FLOYD Picture Disc LP's. Those two of which were "Dark Side of the Moon" and "Wish You Were Here" were just a nice set to own. Then came the small limited run of LP picture disc's the US Record companies manufactured on band such Kansas, Journey, Steve Miller, The Beatles and so many others.
Also in my day (I hate to say it like that, but it is what it is) concert tickets were $7.50 to $5.50 and if you got the show early, sometimes one of the band's would ask for some help to load in (before law suits & playing music backwards became a trial). So I was able to go and see many Bands like Rush open for Sha-Na-Na in a College Gym, Aerosmith & Kiss for $4.50 in a Dinner theater for a cookie (between rehabs in 70's) and many more-but I missed alot too. I missed the Original (Not the Syd era) Pink Floyd era of tour Dark Side-Wish-Animals & The Wall, I never thought that they would have a Ku within the band. I Saw the Rolling Stones a Gozillian times, and good they were! The Original AC-DC with Bon Scott-U.F.O. with Michael Schenker (together too)& one of the 2 best Alice Cooper Billion Dollar Babies Tour and Lynyrd Skynyrd open for The Who (Keith Moon) for $5.00 So what I am getting at is that Rock'n'Roll shows were still promoted strongly, even the large acts to fill the Stadiums in the day or the Festival. The T.V. Show "That 70's Show" comes close, but that have to mix it up to touch each separate click (jocks, preps, brains, head-freaks & what ever) cause then it mattered, now well?
The 1st commercial poster / peice of memorabilia was the Indianapolis Market Square Arena Concert Poster for LED ZEPPELIN (over-run posters from the 1st printing run, the promoter decided to commercailly sell the left overs), poster's on Rush, Heart & Led Zeppelin I took from a telephone poles. Then Goldmine magazine hit the news-stands in the record shop, where you could purchase items through mail order and obtain rarities from around the world. It seems like no big deal now, but in the mid 80's it was Amazing.
Short story on my living and learning this life-long business. I waited quite some time (at the time, it seemed forever) for this very rare 1977 AEROSMITH Japanese tour programme all the way from Osaka, Japan (Forever Records). As it was being delivered by the postman, he rolled the package up and jammed it into my small Apt. mailbox. I was Stunned, as the Postman had no idea what it he had just done. All the way from Osaka, Japan just to crushed, the spine took a hit (for those who are not familiar with the program, it is mostly black cover especially near the spine. I've always taken pride in my record and memorabilia collection, so this really stung and has always remained in the back of my mind.
Then the day came I needed money for a new car, so I sold my large AEROSMITH collection and it had almost everything possible for that time-the rarest of the rare. From there my selling skills grew, that was in 1982, and I have not ever looked back. So I went on to learn about this collecting business, between hanging out at the local collectible record shop to the delivery on the damaged 1977Japanese tour program. From the good to the bad. Over the years I have made contacts, some I still have and some I can not even remember their name. This was how I've become to be in this collectible music business. Through the years of knowledge and the trades, the deals and the same fact always Remains the Same, that I am always learning something new. Not to have an opinion over someone else's like of a certain style of music and to be open to what is up or down, to take a look around in every way. This was by no means an over-night sensation or adventure, but a process that will never end.
We are a Registered Company with DUNN & BRADSTREET. The company has a FEIN (Federal Employment Identification Number) a Business License with the state of Maryland. And most of all, we are here for the duration.
I am always looking for new contacts (so don't be shy), i.e. Record Company Personnel, Radio PD's & DJ's. Road Crew looking to sell off some of their swag-tickets-posters. Customers looking to sell their collection of any size. I do not kiss and tell, as our business is our business.
