 The Russell Life Skills and Reading Foundation, Inc. is a Not for Profit 501 (c)(3) organization committed to lead, guide, and influence disadvantaged children of Broward County in a vigorous and effective campaign against serious problems such as school failure, intergenerational proverty, child abuse and neglect, and illiteracy.
  • Engender hope and empowerment.
  • Ensure safe, secure, and supportive environments.
  • Provide advocacy in accessing all services and needs.
  • Promote self-responsibility, self sufficiency, and interdependence.
  • Promote spiritual awareness and ethical growth.
  • Build effective linkages and networking required for model charitable service programs.

    The Vision

     In 1998, Twan Russell, a professional football player, frustrated by national data which indicates that disadvantaged children are at the bottom of a widening achievement gap, founded The Russell Life Skills and Reading Foundation to provide the fundamental tool-literacy-to eliminate the gap. Twan Russell ventured to create a significant opportunity for fundamental positive change in his community beyond the rhetorical level. The Russell Life Skills and Reading Foundation implements a quality program with care, intelligence, and energy that furnished children with positive achievement effects in all areas of the lives.
