This store was created out of the desire to help others who have children with special needs and disabilities!
My daughter was diagnosed with Sensory Processing Disorder and Autism in 2006. By the time she was one year old she hadn’t reached all the typical milestones that the other kids were meeting. She crawled late and walked late, but I was trying not to compare her to any of the other kids. At least she was meeting the milestones even if it was later than most. She also was very small for her age, and didn’t start saying her first words until well into her first year.
All evidence was pointing to some sort of problem, but what was it? I was concerned about her speech, but was being told that many children do not start speaking until later. Actually, I heard that a lot! Something I learned along the way is that sometimes you can’t listen to what others think, even if it is your own doctor. In this instance I knew in my heart that there was a problem and had to take that problem on my own shoulders if I wanted to help my daughter. Her disabilities have drawn our whole family closer together. We are better people and have much stronger character. We love her unconditionally. She is the joy of our lives and makes us extremely happy.
Since that time I have learned a lot about how to better meet her needs. At times I feel like the Occupational Therapist! I want to be able to help all of my customer with the tips and ideas I have learned through everyday experience.
