and My Art
Hi,
my name is Shai
Coggins. I'm an artist - writer - psychologist who is currently
based in South Australia, after living in Singapore, USA, and the
Philippines. As
an artist, my main focus is on portraying my paintings with bright,
bold colours matched with lively textures and forms. Since
I have the propensity to integrate my varied experiences, training, and
background in my paintings, I also delve into writing and psychology when
making art.
From writing, I integrate storytelling and poetic devices. From
psychology, I strive to imbue emotions, imagination, dreams, and memories. My
interests in travel, cultures, books, entertainment, and other endeavours
are sure to etch their marks in my artwork too. I
have studied art privately with a Singapore artist and a Filipino artist.
And, I have learned the art of batik with a local artist in Kuala Lumpur
(Malaysia). I also added various art classes and workshops to my private
tuition, particularly from Singapore's renowned art college, La Salle-SIA. My
art studies are further enhanced by learning directly from the masters
through books and personal visits to museums and galleries like Mus du
Louvre, Mus du Orsay, and the Pablo Picasso Museum in Paris, among
others in different parts of the world. My
paintings are exhibited in various online
galleries and in Australia. Some of my artworks have been recently
published in a textbook by Prentice Hall Asia, Paint
magazine (UK) and The Straits Times (Singapore).
My
works are now being collected all throughout
the United States and Australia, as well as in Singapore, Philippines, Canada, the
UK, the Netherlands, and South Africa.
I am a member of
an international art group called SAA (UK) and a local art group called
The Burnside Painting Group (Australia). Online, I am affiliated with the art groups, WetCanvas (WC!),
iSmudge (is@), and Art for Art (a4a). I am also
represented at PitchfordArt.com.
