  • Hello! My name is Bettye Watkins. I live in a sleepy little town on the Kentucky lake, called Big Sandy, Tennessee. I moved here in 1964 -- a few years after I married my husband, Ike. He has lived here since he was 10 years old and thinks it is the greatest place on earth. It is I guess, but it offers nothing for a creative person who wants to sell and promote her crafts.


    BUTTONS

    I've always dabbled in art, but it wasn't until 1989, when I started creating these tiny ceramic buttons, that I felt really satisfied and happy in what I do. We traveled for about 8 years and sold buttons at the big trade shows in Memphis, Tennessee; Houston, Texas; Atlanta, Georgia; Birmingham, Alabama; and St. Louis, Missouri. We no longer travel, so I find myself looking for ways to get my product out for people to see. That is when I discovered eBay. So, I went out and bought a computer and decided to try this route. I am very proud of my buttons. I have created over 500 patterns that I have to offer you. These buttons are totally 100% handmade---from the plastic template I use to cut them, to the raw clay I use to form them. Each button is handled at least 6 to 8 times (for ones with 1 color) plus extra times every time a new color is added. If you can decorate 5 of the highly detailed ones in an hour, you are doing really well.

    I also do Ceramic Jewelry & Button Covers from these patterns. You will need to check my site often. I do all kinds of artistic products that I will be offering as soon as I get things in order.

    Before I close, I would like for you to think about the value my ceramic buttons will have in about 30 or 40 years down the road. They will probably be as collectable as the old hand crafted pieces we find ourselves looking for and treasuring these days. Don't you think??? I can just see my grandchildren telling their children, "Your Great Grandmother did those."
