Welcome! I am usually a shy, retiring person, but I have been encouraged to tell you a little about myself by one of the more outgoing staff members who used to work in our firm (thanks, Ashleigh!).
I work in the accounts department of DIES&DAS Ltd, a small international trading firm. We do business at all hours of the day and night, depending upon the time zones of our current "premier" clients. Our office, informally known as the "Shed", was originally located in Canberra. However, due to the risk to stock caused by unexpected bushfires, we have made the move north to a smaller and safer area.
My first major contract was the lucrative and important (but sometimes hair-rending) task of keeping the New Hebrides website error-free. This project was undertaken jointly with my colleague "Den Fliegenbeinzler". It was, shall we say, a learning experience, but richly rewarding, and my diplomatic skills improved dramatically as a result of this co-operative venture.
I also participated in the overhaul of the "Virtual Volcanoes" site run by Mr Iomoon, Esq., in partnership with Ultraplinian, of Volcres, NYTX and other interested parties.
I am currently engaged by the SCADS (Stamp Collectors Against Dodgy Sellers) team in ad hoc maintenance of the SCADS website which educates collectors about some of the fakes and forgeries purchased on eBay.
Other site managers have taken up my offer of ad-hoc services, and I list some of these below.
From July till September 2002, I was involved in the formatting and mounting of our firm manager's four-frame New Hebrides exhibit, shown at Melbourne '02 on 4-6 October.
In March 2003, I formatted a five-frame New Caledonia exhibit for the French Challenge Revisited at Tasmania 2003 on 11-13 April.
In 2004, I formatted and mounted our firm manager's exhibit again, this time for state level competition at Canberra Stampshow 2004, which was held on 13-15 March.
