of a sudden...we're making a supplementary side
income through our eBay business as PowerSellers,
but the way got started with this was a bit unexpected,
since that's not what we originally set out to do.
Here's
how it happened....
We
spent two and a half years remodeling our entire
house. Kitchen. Bedrooms. Bathrooms. Living spaces.
Office. Everything but the garage.
Along
the way, we were pretty particular about how we
decorated each room, and for the bedrooms especially,
we decided we wanted certain Pottery Barn and Pottery
Barn Kids designs. But after combing through the
PB catalogs and making our choices, we discovered
that some of the designs we wanted were sold
out when we headed down to the Pottery Barn store
and visited the Pottery Barn Web site.
So we
checked eBay...and in most cases, our choices weren't
for sale on eBay, either!
Sounds
like "End of Game," right?
Well,
not being ones to give up so easily, we started
doing some research...and made some discoveries
along the way about how to locate brand new
Pottery Barn items that are still in demand but
"no longer available."
And
we ended up getting exactly the items we
wanted. All of them. And all at less than retail!!!
Then
it hit us: If we're looking for certain
hot "Sold Out" Pottery Barn items, maybe
other people are too, and wouldn't it be great to
help them save time and avoid some of the frustration
we ran into while trying to hunt down the pieces
we needed?
Long
story short: We started applying the techniques
we discovered for finding Pottery Barn items to
build up our own inventory, and then started putting
the items up on eBay. Three months later*--the minimum
amount of time required to build up eBay feedback
and sales levels--we became "Bronze" level eBay
PowerSellers and--thanks to our great customers--less
than two months after that, we recently reached
the "Silver" PowerSeller level.
