 ~~Alene ~ AKA Watchnover~~ Thank You So Much for Visiting My About Me Page!!! You figure it out. LOL... Marital Status: Widowed in 1997. Occupation: I am looking for a career in antiques and/or auctions... but for right now I am in hospitality management. Other Info: I am a USAF Vietnam-Era Veteran as well as a dependent widow of a USAF Retiree. Some of the bases to which I was stationed include: Hanscom AFB, MA; Lajes AB, Azores; Scott AFB, IL; Richards-Gebaur AFB, MO (now closed); Duluth IAP, MN (now closed); Keesler AFB, MS (Tech Tng); Lackland AFB, TX (Basic). My screen name/user ID of "Watchnover" reminds me every time that I sign on that God, my Mom, my late husband, Gary, and now my Dad are watching over me!! I am a Christian. I also am an extremely proud American. More About Me Hobbies: I collect owls, thimbles, vaseline glass, Swarovski, and Lladro. I love to read... my favorite books are historical fiction, mysteries, and some biographies. Music is another great love of mine... mainly Country (both old and new), Oldies, and Christian music. I also really enjoy going antique/flea market/garage-yard sales hopping. Latest News: There isn't any news at the moment... but check back... there may be some in the near future. Alene xoxoxo Email address: watchnover@hotmail.com My Views about eBay Etiquette REGARDING FEEDBACK: I promise ALL of the following: (1) If I am a seller of an item, as soon as I receive payment, I will leave feedback on the buyer's account. While I always appreciate feedback, I will not require it before I leave feedback on another's account. In this regard (and in everything I do), I try to follow the "Golden Rule" ~ which is "To do unto others as I would have them do unto me." (2) If I am a buyer, as soon as I receive that item, I will leave feedback on the seller's account regardless of whether they left feedback for me. (3) I used to respond to feedback left for me, but I just cannot keep it up (please forgive me). Now I will only respond to feedback when it is warranted. Just know that I really appreciate your feedback for me and that I wish you all the best that this life has to offer! REGARDING CONTACT/EMAILS: I promise that I will contact either the buyer or seller (whichever is applicable) via email (or other applicable means... i.e., eBay contact message, PayPal messages, etc.) for every step of the auction experience. IN GENERAL: If I upset you for any reason, please inform me so that I can try to rectify the situation. Alene xoxoxo Important eBay Scam Information The "Feedback Scam," as it has been named by the Sunnyvale, CA company, Fortinet, has been discovered. Fortinet says that the scam is really a new twist on an old scam. The scam, being a fake auction, where as soon as all the proceedings are finished the individuals running the phony auction disappear with their ill-gotten cash with no exchange of goods for the bidding party. THINGS TO CONSIDER WHEN BIDDING FOR AN ITEM ON EBAY: Do not purchase an expensive item (especially in electronics) if it contains several of the following: *Price is "too good to be true" and/or great price offered PLUS free shipping. *Auction description appears to be cut and pasted from a Web site, is excessively long (so as to be confusing) and the photo of the item is not of an actual item; rather it is a stock/catalog photo. *Seller's feedback is primarily as a buyer or those items s/he normally sells are not of that type/price range. *Seller's feedback is primarily as a buyer or seller of inexpensive items (recipes, coupons, eBooks, digital photos, etc.) and is now selling expensive merchandise. *Seller requires Western Union as only method of payment. Red Flag! (Always pay for expensive items through PayPal using a credit card for optimal buyer protection). *Seller is not located in U.S. or their ID/listing states U.S., but the seller requires payment be wired elsewhere. *One or three day auction for expensive items is another red flag! Most legitimate sellers want exposure (more bang for their buck) and will list their auctions for five, seven or 10 days. All of these are extremely good practices and as long as you remember to use them, they should work wonderfully to keep you safe while doing your Ebay shopping. Tips Regarding Leaving Feedback 1. In order to make sure that you DO NOT FORGET to leave feedback for EACH ITEM, go to "my eBay" and click on the "Feedback" link found on the left under the category called "My Account." This page will show you "Items Awaiting Feedback" as well as "Recent Feedback" left for you. The items that are awaiting feedback will show whether feedback was left for you (the cloudlike symbol on the far right of the item listing). You can either click on the big "Leave Feedback" bar at the top of the page or by clicking on the item's "Leave Feedback" link under "Action." 2. Also, next to the big "Leave Feedback" on that same page (mentioned in item 1) you will also see another helpful link, Go to Feedback Forum to reply or follow up on feedback. I highly recommend using this link as well. You can also arrive at the same place if you click on the number after your eBay user ID and then click on the Feedback Forum link. 3. A little known fact is that you may leave follow-up comments on feedback you have already left for an item/person. This may be used to clarify an issue or to address a situation that occurred after you left the feedback.
