Very rare first issue Homestake Gold Mine Stock. It is estimated that only 500 of these small sized certificates were ever issued and only a few survive today. It is signed by Lloyd Tevis as president, one of the original three investors in the mine. Dated 1878, only 1 year after incorporation. ~ Lead, South Dakota

It all started with a trip I took out west a few years back to breathe the fresh mountain air and do a little gold panning. A nice gentleman in a small antique shop showed me a couple of early mining stocks he had for sale. I guess you could say it was love at first site...I had to have them! Since that day I have had a fascination with these old certificates. Each one a direct link to our past.
