In the beginning, there was Sylvie and her Barbie Dolls; we suppose that’s where it all really started.
She loved making outfits for them, and did-out of every, and any materials available. She remembers being taught knitting, as a small child, way down in Argentina; everything else came naturally. As time went on, besides sewing, she mastered crocheting, candle making, weaving, embroidery, and a wide variety of the design arts.
One day, in San Francisco 1983, as she was putting together a quilt for her second child, {a son} - Rusty Rollins, a friend - {and a musician working with her husband}-noticed her work: "You sew like a pro", he said, "people pay for such talent".
Within a couple of weeks, Sylvie began sewing for a living. She was making stagewear, Wedding Gowns, restoring antique apparel for “Painted Lady”, Her first large accounts included Banana Republic & Pizzeria Uno.
In 1984, after moving the family to Sunny South Florida, placing ads in the local paper, musicians’ trade magazines; she was in business again… but not enough to pay the bills. She began making stagewear for local bands, working the local flea markets, and designing for “Fanny Girls” as well as Designing for HSC-Home Shopping Channel.
Paper Mache earrings were growing in popularity, so she gathered her fabric scraps. The Wild & Sweet Artwear Earring Line was born. As she was out showing the line, she stumbled upon Sunrise Flea Market. There she made the contacts, learned the ropes, and, constantly improving and expanding her line, turned a part time enterprise into an established interest.
Shortly thereafter, an exotic dancer asked her to make her some outfits – the rest is history.
Wild & Sweet Artwear Designs apparel has appeared on the Home Shopping Channel, in major motion pictures such as "Strip Tease" & "The Crew", designed for numerous musician/rap artists for album covers as well as their apparel for their parties & videos; Major Feature Entertainers as well as exotic dancers, Large Busty magazines, Hawaiian Tropic Pageant Finalists, Contestants in Numerous Contests, such as Hot Bod, Muscle Bod, etc., designed for the Stars such as “Carmen Electra”; The Ft. Lauderdale Xmas Boat Parade Swimsuit Millennium Finalist, Fantasy Fest Participants, as well as at Neiman Marcus and other exclusive shops.
Wild & Sweet specializes in Custom Stripperwear, Swimwear, Stagewear & Streetwear. Over the years Wild and Sweet has earned a reputation for innovative style and unsurpassed quality which endures to this day-and will continue to grow, and delight, in the years ahead.
