Venice California paintings
Venice, California is the spiritual home of many, even some who have only been weekend tourists. It is said that nobody leaves Venice, though we all have our own ways of staying there. One way is to keep painting pictures of Venice. Another way is to have one of these pictures. The paintings are acrylic on stretched canvas, with simple wood slat frames. Shipping is free in the continental U.S. Venice paintings are here.
Urban Aborigine paintings

The Dreamtime is a temporary autonomous zone where anything goes. Change is the only constant. Things are consistent through their very inconsistency. Symbolism can be traditional and shared throughout the culture or it can be very personal and subjective.
The Dreamtime reconciles opposites. In the Dreamtime it can be day and night, past and present, simultaneously. Sun and stars, moon and rainbow, can coexist. Things can be seen from inside and outside, from level ground and from the sky above. Abstract and representational; spiritual and material; in the Dreamtime all dichotomies lay down their swords and rest.
Like their aboriginal counterparts, the paintings have no up-down orientation but can be hung any way. Most of the paint was applied with twigs from trees. The paintings are on canvasboard and have no frames or hangers. See them here.

Within the continental USA, shipping is free for paintings on stretched canvas. Larger paintings will be removed from the stretchers for shipping and will need to be stapled back on.

Venice California book

Acknowledged as a unique urban environment, Venice is a microcosm of everything that's good and bad about America. Interest in Venice will increase when its Centennial comes up in 2005.
Call Someplace Paradise is for anyone who lives there now, or used to, or ever wanted to, or might some day. It's for people from other countries, curious about life in this almost anarchistic milieu; for futurologists, sociologists, urbanologists, economists, aging hippies, and libertarians.
Venice has been called the Center of the Universe, the Last Resort, the living future of contemporary American history, the living national monument to the achievement of the American dream, and the world's largest outdoor outpatient clinic.
Call Someplace Paradise makes you wish you were there and glad you weren't.
Call Someplace Paradise, a trade paperback signed by the author with an inscription of your choice, is here.
Call Someplace Paradise, a trade paperback, unsigned, is here.
Miniature rose bouquets

Each adorable mini rose bouquet contains half a dozen flowers. They can be used to decorate Christmas ornaments and for many other craft applications.

To create the picture frame and box shown here, mini rose bouquets were glued on, then sprayed with clear acrylic to solidify them.

Attach mini rose bouquets to place cards, gift cards or name tags. If you serve buffet style when you entertain, identify the contents of each dish for diet-conscious guests.
Mini rose bouquets are individually hand-made by an American artisan, from polymer clay, green wire, tissue paper and ribbon. Bouquets are from 1-1/4" to 1-1/2" tall and around 3/4" wide.
Available: in groups of 20 or 100, as mixed assortments or same-color sets.
How to custom order:
Email me through the "ask seller a question" link on any item page.
How many and what color?
I'll quote you a price, a shipping amount, and a delivery date.
When the order is completed, I'll set up an auction with you as the preferred bidder.
And notify you that the auction has been listed.
Send me a picture of something creative you did with mini rose bouquets, and maybe it will appear on this page! With credit to you as the artist, of course.
Miniature painted skulls

These come in 17 different designs traditional to the Indians of the American Southwest. Each one is nestled in colored tissue paper in a clear plastic box, and includes an explanation of the meaning of the design. They are appropriate for various gift occasions, for instance, the Elk Dreamer is a popular Valentine.
My personal favorite is the insignia of the Rotten Belly Society, for non-conformists. In the spirit of non-conformity, there are also a couple of original modern designs just for fun.
The "shield" backing of each skull measures about 2" in diameter and is made from polymer clay, its edges laced with wire, or with waxed cord to give the appearance of leather or sinew.
The skulls are cast metal coated with acrylic paint. The designs are entirely hand-painted. The horns are ornamented with beads and real feathers, or with beads and metal cones, disks or triangles in silver, gold or copper. Because they are individual works of art, the decorative details may vary from the picture, although the basic design is the same.
There is a loop of wire or cord on the back for hanging. All the mini skulls are here.
