Rug production started in 1987.

After dealing with Antique rugs for 6 years Yayla realized a need to make vegetable dyed carpets to satisfy the retail market and weaving communities. Which expanded to Cultural Survival projects and Barakat Inc was founded to benefit refugees and other rug weaving peoples.
