YoMama Beads?....
odd name, fun name, my name, YES!
Many of my customers ask me where the name YoMama Beads came from. It all began when I found out I was pregnant with my first son. A friend started calling me "YoMama", and after that it just stuck.
My love of beads began when another friend took me to my first bead store, and soon after that I was hooked! I started making jewelry to raise funds for various non-profit groups, including funding my own mission trips to Haiti. I have fallen in love with Haiti and the Haitian people. Haiti is the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere, with an annual average income of only $400.
I travel to Haiti twice a year on mission trips, and have worked at an orphanage, and have done a few medical missions as well. It is the other passion in my life. It amazes me that jewelry making has allowed me to do so much!
On a recent trip to Haiti I taught jewelry making to the women there, and helped to start a jewelry making co-op for them. It's going well, and I will return to do more with them soon.
Many of my customers thank me for ultra fast shipping. I want to give all the credit to my wonderful supportive husband, Michael. He is the YoPapa shipping guy for YoMama Beads. He faithfully goes to the post office for me EVERY DAY! So be sure to thank YoPapa too!
